Jesus speaking to the people, giving warnings and encouragement:

Luke 12:11-12 – “When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”

What is the Human Spirit?  Awareness, Insight, Understanding, Judgement, Reasoning.

What is the Holy Spirit?  God’s Power.

  1. Book of Psalms is prayer to God.
    • When praying, leave it all to God.
    • Exposing your Soul/Spirit.
  2. Book of Proverbs are wisdom/learning for People.
    • Proverbs 15 is a lesson on how to speak to others and communicate.
    • Proverbs 15:28-33 (NIV) refers to the senses of a person.  – The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.  The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.  Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.  Whoever heeds life-giving correction will be at home among the wise.  Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding.  Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor.
    • Specifically, Proverbs 15:31 (NIV) – Whoever heeds life-giving correction will be at home among the wise.
      • (KJV) – The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
    • Reproof (Define) – The expression of blame or disapproval.
  3. Psalms 62
    • What is God?  Rock/Protector.
    • God is the source of Salvation.
    • Find peace through your trials and help others find God.
    • Do not trust in men, crime, riches.  Instead trust God.
  4. Getting more specific where God does protect you, guide you, and sending an intercessor. In different books of the Bible, same chapter and verses:
    • Psalms 63:7-10 (NIV) – Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.  I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.  Those who want to kill me will be destroyed; they will go down to the depths of the earth.  They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals.
    • Isaiah 63:7-10 (NIV) – I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us – yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses.  He said, “Surely they are my people, children who will be true to me”; and so he became their Savior.  In all their distress He too was distressed, and the angel of his presence saved them.  In his love and mercy he redeemed them’; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.  Yet they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit.  So he turned an became their enemy and he himself fought against them.
      • Comparison Scripture in KJV – ‘grieved’ is vexed.
      • Vexing is refusing, quench, stop.
  5. Moving forward, Jesus explaining the issues and sending a helper.
    • John 15:18-26 (NIV) – “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.  As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.  That is why the world hates you.  Remember that I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’  If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.  If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.  They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.  If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.  Whoever hates me hates my Father as well.  If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin.  As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father.  But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’  When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father – the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father – he will testify about me.”
  6. After appointing the disciples, people began to question Jesus stability.
    • Jesus began talking in parables, doing this makes a person think about the issue.
    • The political leaders began to slander Jesus and due to their impure spirit, He directed His words to the disciples in Mark 3:23-29 (NIV) – “So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak in parables: “How can Satan drive out Satan?  If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.  If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.  And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.  In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up.  Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.  Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”
    • Verse 29 takes us back to Luke 12:8-10.  These parables are important as we go through our life.  Do not deny that inner voice.
  7. In the end, where does this lesson take us?
    • Romans 8:26-28 – In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.  An we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
    • All things work together for good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose.  Whose purpose?  HIS PURPOSE.
