Getting it in the right context

  • Present the Love of Christ (Ephesians 3:19)
  • Pass on the Words of the Bible & Awesomeness of the Holy Spirit
  • Serve fellow man through helping, guiding, teaching
  • Produce positive results whether working for yourself or others

Jesus chose His disciples

  • After a night of prayer (Luke 6:12-16)
  • There were no requirements, no resumes, no qualifications.  They all came from different walks of life (Matthew 4:18-19)
  • Praise God for everything.  Even in the final hour, the 12 men closest to Jesus all found their way to abandon him.  You can’t expect others to support you in this world, only God.

Thoughts

  • Learning to love others even with their faults
    1. It is not our place to judge others
    2. Don’t let yourself (ego) stand in the way
    3. We have faults equal-to, or worse, than others
  • You are not going to change them
    1. People that want to know and are open to improvement will change
    2. It is not our place to change anyone, but to present the Fruit of the Spirit
    3. As God’s Holy Spirit enters someone they will see the need for change
  • Don’t be disheartened if a Christian disappoints, for we all do
    1. Remember, it is not “our” disappointment, but God the Father
  • Work on you, not on them
    1. Present the best example to allow them to see the Holy Spirit
    2. Improve your relationship and He will shine through you
    3. Don’t let the arrows of strife or whispers of temptation get to you
    4. Stop & Rest
  • Fill yourself with the Holy Spirit
    1. Pray without ceasing (Matthew 6:5)
    2. Find ways to remember where you are with God
    3. Read His word regularly.  What is He saying to You?
  • Don’t challenge their capacity
    1. Don’t make other Christians stumble (Matthew 18:1-9)
    2. We are all called to do different things in life, just as the disciples
    3. Some do not have the same abilities as others.  Don’t compare
    4. God does not give all things equal, some are better at speaking, teaching, sports, cooking
